So he is a giant wussy that won't do the things that need to be done

He leaves his men with no protection and only gets the robberies to stop by pure luck. He had zero plan to deal with it.

He had to be bailed out by his wife for his deal.

Dude was terrible and kept messing everything up. He had no plan and had to be bailed out by luck and happenstance. Terrible protagonist.

He was right tho.

Arming his men would have created more headaches for him with the DA.. As it was proven when Julian shot back at those 2 guys on the bridge. He ended up losing his loan from the bank.

His plan was greater then the inconvenience of fuel robbery. Those were distractions that, had he gotten caught up with, would've kept him in the same place as he said during the dinner scene with the bankers. He built his business on exceptional service, approachability, and arming would undermine that. It's an unforgiving business and that was his niche to outdo his competitors and it worked... They felt threatened by him. He did what he had to do and when all choices were bad, he chose the "most right" ones and succeeded.
