Such satisfaction as a male audience

If it isn't the acting, it is the music and editing, or maybe the directing, that made it a good movie. I would not call it the best, there is better acting, better sound, better directing, but being at an above average level for almost every factor, this movie is pretty good.

People who thinks this movie is boring probably mistaken this movie's genre a little bit. This movie, and about three quarters of the foxcatcher, is as exciting, as satisfying, and as enjoyable as it can get. It might appear a little dull to some, but it actually is called "subtle". I wish more commercial films can have some of this "subtle" element in them. Don't watch it if you are not looking for such an experience, but when you do, I'm sure you will like it.

why mention "as a male audience" and not elaborate on it?

Oh, sorry I thought it was obvious. Isn't it the kind of experience every "man" wants? I don't like oscar's quote near the end that he always chose the path that is the most right, nobody can know if a path is most right. But it made good sense then since he did achieve everything he wanted, and he was very confident about himself being there, and it was very satisfying to watch him delivering that confidence. But I think most ladies might think such a character as a little "cold blooded", and somewhat dislike him since he didn't show much sympathy to his workers and family. And I think the director weren't very concerned about audiences of the other sex, which makes the movie exceptionally enjoyable for men.

I am a woman and I enjoyed the movie. Incidentally, whether or not I like a movie has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not I would like the main character as a person if he WERE a real person. I don't know -- perhaps growing up in a culture where so few good books or movies are made with me in mind, I've learned to enjoy "masculine" books and movies without needing to personally identify with the protagonist -- or needing a protagonist that I can perceive as an idealized version of myself. Men, perhaps, have that need, if only because it's a need that's always pandered to. But you know what? As far as I'm concerned, that only limits your ability to enjoy art -- and makes me a more versatile viewer.

Also, though I'm a mere woman, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that you misinterpreted the line about "the path that's most right". This is not a couple of hypermasculine guys idly philosophizing, they are negotiating their future relationship, in which Abel will have much more money and political influence and the DA is going to pursue his political ambitions. In the context of that conversation, "most right" means "least wrong". This is consistent with other hints dropped in the movie that Abel is not above cutting corners every now and then if the payoff is worth it.

I'm not sure if your post is sexist or just really stupid.

Yep, because a Pokemon collector embodies every attribute of a real man. LOL, no I and my GF thought it was a good movie. Would never really watch it again.
