Really good, but also not interesting? Idk

I really love the plot structure, the opening few scenes and ending few scenes are great, but there’s just so little content in between. I love me a slow burn, but besides communicating Agnes’ desire to have a baby, connection with nature, and general crushing unhappiness, the middle hour-and-a-half-or-so is spent looking at this poor German lady be melancholy in a field of gray. I want to say it’s shot well and has good cinematography, but there’s absolutely nothing to look at, until that great fucking ending that recontextualices and saves the movie: that’s how you can be miserable, and interesting, instead of just the former.

"IDK" is appropriate for this movie. I had a hard time putting it somewhere. IMO, it starts with her husband. I'm not 100% sure, but it seems he had a thing for the dude who hung himself, so I question why he got married in the first place. Most likely because of pressure from his over-bearing mother?

But since it came out she wasn't able to have kids, his "involvement" with her probably would not have made much difference in her mental stability. The religious pressure was incredible. At one point, mom-in-law used god (as a weapon) to get Agnes to cook for Wolf. These people were devout, and misguided. So much so, that women commit murder for an easy way out because of the wrath of suicide and god.

This was as slow a movie as I've seen, but it is a somewhat interesting look into mental stability during those times. Pretty good movie if you have the patience.
