In what world would it be okay for her to hire that guy? Also, I'm so tired of this tired ass "Husband/Father works too much" thing in modern film and television. What is he supposed to do, no provide for his family?
Hey buddy, the 1950's called. 1) Women can be (and are) the breadwinners in many families. 2) Additionally, in most two parent homes nowadays, both parents work. 3) What's wrong with a male nanny if he's qualified for the job?
What are you on about? Who said she couldn't work? I'm talking about the overused narrative of a man working too much to provide for his family. What is he supposed to do, be irresponsible?
Charles' wife is unbelievable for about a million other reasons..
Hiring the male nanny i think actually makes sense..
She seems to be a doctor with stripper-level-looks/body who up to this point seemed to be working, looking after the kids, making Charles a sandwich AND driving him around to tell people they are cut from the team...
Honestly, the nanny thing makes at least a bit of sense.
I don't mind hiring a nanny, that does make sense. My issue is the nanny she hired. What if Charles hired some aspiring model or actress? How would that look? Honestly, her character has been a bit grating with how she treats Charles like wheb she called him fat in Season 1.
Maybe I missed it but I don't recall him saying he was an aspiring model. So she should discriminate against him because he's good looking? That's equally as absurd as not hiring someone because they are not of a look that's pleasing to the eye. Also, my take is if anything it was meant to just be a dig at Charles to start carrying his weight so to speak.
Hey RoadWarriorTez, regarding your comment about the storyline about the husband working too much. I want to say I agree. Even on the reality show Million Dollar Listing New York which is apparently happening in real life the wife was bitching and moaning about the husband going out and making huge deals and $800,000 commissions. I don't think that's very realistic and someone who makes that much money usually can schedule some down time where a regular nine-to-five person making 60k a year will not have that time off. Doesn't seem to be a real problem and writers are making it one.
Exactly, it just makes the family come off as a bunch of ingrates. My father worked a lot to provide what he could for me and my sisters and my mother made sure we knew that and gave him his respect. This narrative makes it seem as if the only thing you can do as a father/husband is fail. If you provide then you're working too much, if you don't work as much as you can then you're a deadbeat dad.
I get what you're saying but if he was recommended to her by her peers he's probably pretty good at his job and the goal is to provide excellent care for his daughter...
