I mean, they glossed over that massively on the show. It's nice that he finally accepted his flaws and got hip surgery but ... the guy is still addicted to pain killers.

I think that's hard to say as he is in constant pain. If he continues poppin' pills after he's recovered from surgery then that's another thing.
