I don't understand the hate. This was a fantastic film! It was completely different from Garden State and that is great, we can't expect the same movie from the same writer/director. It was really touching and I'm really sad that movies like John Wick are playing at my local theater right now, instead of movies about life, family, us, like this one. I really hope he gets to make more movies even though he didn't get as many returns as he should have out of this one.

The movie was funded via kickstarter. Essentially it was all a "return" for Zach.

With the original, the filmmaker gave it his all and created a quality film on a very limited budget.

He didn't need to put in as much effort because he was given the money from fans, and he disappointed many of them as a result.

I suppose if a film loses a lot of money at the box office it's becuase the audience "didn't get it".

To call this film brilliant is insulting to cinema. This is honestly the most cliched film i've seen in a while. It is genuinely revolting. The music is bad, the characters are all one dimensional, it's extremely predictable and the dialogue is laughable. I am baffled by how terrible this film manages to be.

I agree. I am picky and rarely find a good movie, but for some reason this one went to my heart. I think one needs to watch with the heart, otherwise it has little value. For me, it was an amazing movie.
