9/10 When it comes to horror.

As a horror fantast, i know that any horror above 5.0 on imdb is worth while watching. A 5 is a 7 etc. This one is a really good one. Well done special effects and the creepy clastrophobic feeling is grasping you really tight. With the first person view it's almost as if you're down there UEing yourself. The best part is however the plot. It gives you adventure mixed with horror. And everyone knows that adventure with anything is a solid foundation for a starmovie!

I give this one a strong 9. I would give it a 10 if it were not that i felt some connections to the cave while watching it. That was only due to the atmosphere though. The originality of it is gold.

I watched with some mates and even my best friend's girlfriend liked it. This means it is enjoyable even by non-horror fantasts. So bring the club and enjoy - imo - the best horror movie of the year!

Because im god, are you god to question my answer?

I'm really not sure what you mean by this, at all. Can you elaborate? You "felt a connection to the cave" so you drop a point?

reply

I think he's talking about a horror movie from 2005 called The Cave.

reply

This. Yeah sorry my english is a tad bit rusty.

Because im god, are you god to question my answer?

reply

A strong nine? I'll keep that in mind in case I ever see your name popup recommending any other horror movies because you and I have VERY VERY different standards in what makes good horror.

reply

That's harsh, it's just his opinion, I'm sure some of your recommendations can be seen as very questionable too.

reply

Yeah but his opinion ignores basic undeniable objective aspects of this film that make it bad. Personally, I haven't done that in years. Objective first, subjective second.

reply

What are those objective aspects?

reply

There is nothing objective at all about one's personal experience. Films are a singularly subjective experience.

Your statement is so flawed and illogical there's nothing more to be said.

Metallica sucks balls.

Objectively.

reply

That's pretty strong language coming from someone who gave Battle for LA a 7. Everyone's entitled to an opinion and I agree that it was a good movie overall as far as a scary atmosphere was concerned with some good history bits thrown in as well.

reply

Please elaborate on these objective faults of the film. I'm a life-long horror fan and I felt this film was very refreshing and creepy.

easy, now. no need to freak.

i agree with the guy , its better than the all the zombie movies of late or the butchering of great horror icons like freddy or jason or the horrible remakes of Halloween . this movie is great if you your into this style and sorry but reviews from IMDb to Ebert and any one is just a bias personal opinion thats why i will never not watch something because some person rates it good or bad . A example mad max fury road LOL what i pile of trash if you went for mad max it is not mad max it better to call it mad furria or how ever you spell her name , but it was a disgrace as a mad max movie i checked my blu-ray and at the 28 min mark is when he says his first word instead of grunting like moron but thats the point with movies they butcher the greats by trying to Americanize them its destroying so many good movies like the grudge what a pile of junk compared to the original from japan or the eye or ring . Now mad max is a amazing movie if you want a brainier no thinking car exploding action movie but its not even 2% of what mad max is in any old movies or comics or novels its amazing how they truly destroyed the character LOL no dog or car no reason to fight what a joke for any true fan of his. lets hope the video game add some amazing mad max acting and storys

reply

So you have never seen a horror film then? For me this was a 0 out of 10 and I watch horror films on a daily basis.

reply

my mistake , this don't suit you, go watch some PG 13 horror , maybe you can rate it 10/10

reply

I thought it was great because it's not your "average" horror flick

reply

OP you are totally right. It's a solid horror movie and probably the best one of 2014. I gave it a 10 cause I think it deserves a higher rating than current one.

reply

I also think if a horror movie gets over 5 on IMDB, it's worth checking out. I liked the theme and setting of AASB, but it wasn't very scary. I would have liked to see the characters wander in the actual Hell. Yeah sure, maybe that place was supposed to be the Hell (to them), but I hoped for something way more interesting looking.

"Walter, the old man next door. We don't know where the hell he is."

reply

I gave it the same score as you. It was highly original, and actually scary. There wasn't any CGI or ridiculous special effects, and the ending wasn't disappointing, like 99% of the horrors I've watched. It's nice not to feel like I just wasted an hour and a half. Really, really great horror.

reply

Agreed! I loved this, along with Oculus and The Babadook.

It's always after I lose things that I realize how very significant the things I've lost are.
