Horror fans help me out!

I'm looking for some good horror movies but from the past decade if possible. I really liked AASB and am looking for something similar. There were a couple of good ones i can recall recently like "It Follows", "The Evil Dead" remake, "Conjuring" and so on...

Every list i try on Google seem to give me the same movies over and over again. Yes exorcist was great but I've seen it as well as all the other classic ones. I'm looking for something new that you would consider a good horror film.

I really like movies with surreal elements in them like what the Koreans do best.

Please help guys.

Absentia (2011)

reply

yep, seen it. very unsettling atmosphere there. I liked the whole exchange thing hook...

Oculus and The Babadook.

reply

I've seen both, great movies. Although Babadook was kind of a let down. I've read about it too much before and saw all the high praises it got, so my expectations were probably a bit too high from the get go :)

reply

I thought Kill Theory was really great and it did a couple interesting twists. I'm a sucker for "students in an isolated location" movies.

reply

This is something new, I'll check it out. Thnx for the tip. If you're sucker for these types of scenarios you should check out the game "Until Dawn" if you're into games that is. Really, really cool.

I see you're a fan of the korean films so I guess you're good with foreign horror? Because I could list quite a few good ones from the past 10 years.

reply

Yeah sure man, I don't care where the film is from as long as it's good. I've seen most Japanese horrors, some Thai, a lot of Korean ones etc. A lot of them were great 'cause I feel, they're not restricted so much by appealing to masses as Hollywood productions. Nothing wrong with that either, but sometimes thinking outside the box pays off with better/scarier results.

Descent

reply

I've seen descent and I have to be honest with you, i didn't think it was that good. I've seen people praise it but for me it was kind of meh. I guess the main thing about it is the dreaded claustrophobia sense it gives the viewer but I've seen it a while back now and maybe it's time to give it another chance tho...

Gonna try not to repeat what other people have said, but I'll list as many as I can think of that I enjoyed since 2000:

Grave Encounters series, The Visit, Crimson Peak, Unfriended, The Visit, The Strangers, The Hills Have Eyes, The Gallows, The Green Inferno, Insidious series, Sinister, The Conjuring series, Cloverfield, The Ring, The Grudge, Final Destination series, The Tunnel, Paranormal Activity series, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil, The Witch, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Lights Out, Don't Breathe, The Purge series, The Others, The Other Side of the Door, The Boy, Poltergeist, Hush, The Shallows

There's some of these that only I liked even though they aren't well regarded, but maybe you could check them out.

reply

Haven't seen green inferno and deliver us from evil. Alright, i'll give them a shot. The VVitch was amazing, just brilliant.

reply

What about Rec and Rec 2? (Forget about the third).

reply

I've only seen the first one. It was ok but I got over-saturated with zombie movies... I'll give the second one a glance, tho

reply

Watch Rec 1 again and then Rec 2 straight after that. It continues from the first one, basicly one big movie. 2 has better graphics also.

reply

The Borderlands (2013) and The Shrine (2010) should qualify.

reply

Haven't seen them, thnx dude
