Varga opening all the Christmas presents in Emmet's house
Juri with the wolf head
so I think they kidnap Nikki from the bus instead of just killing her. In the teaser for next week, it seems like her body is not there in the bus crash.
Maybe Varga represents how technology insinuates itself into our lives ultimately taking us over and destroying us from within.
The library scene was clever... you're thinking why doesn't this guy just pull his weapon out and tell him to leave... meanwhile he's slowly breaking him down psychologically until you finally realize that "oh that's why he just stood there"... and by the time he tells him to grab the gun on the counter, the officer is completely psyched out.
What value does Nikki have to them alive? Didn't they already decide to execute her? Maybe they need to find out what she told the police. Nikki's a tough cookie, but I don't really want to see her get beaten again.
Maybe she wakes up and other inmates wake up, and she convinces some of them to help her saying "There going to kill me" as he drills the door down some inmates kick him down or something.. Just a thought.
That deputy cop seems pretty inept, I don't even know if he'd be able to shoot someone if he had to save his own life. He forgets his gun routinely and I dunno if he's ever fired it. I don't know why or how he is even a cop. Juri is a monster so it didn't take much to intimidate that deputy. It's a wolf vs a lamb.
I don't know why they would need Niki alive since they already tried to kill her, but Juri could have just shot her through the cage and instead he was sawing it open.
Maybe the syringe was not to kill her but just to drug her and he was going to take her away if Gloria had not interrupted him? I don't know what they need from her though, when they beat her up they never even told her why, or what they wanted her to do. Usually when gangsters beat people up, it's to make them do something, so they would say some demand like "get out of town" or "pay what you owe" or whatever, but they just beat her and gave no instructions.
Varga seems to have some motive that I can't figure out when it comes to Nikki. Usually he is driven by pragmatism, but not here.
Oh he does, but what was unique about the scene is that he was unarmed. Usually when that scene plays out... the green cop draws the gun on the wily criminal with his hands quivering... and then the criminal calmly tries to talk him down... "Now don't do anything stupid here... you know you don't have the guts to kill me... etc" But this version was a twist on that typical version because the audience is thinking "why doesn't he pull out his gun?" during the whole scene and then he never even has it.
I don't buy the kidnap Nikki scenario because DJ Qualls is super skinny... and I don't think he could easily lift the 5' 10" Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Of course, it's possible... but it seems like you'd bring a larger man to lift a 140 pound woman.
If she's alive next episode... then clearly things changed since the jail cell... so I could only guess that they want to find out what she told them. Remember that she could've said more... but all she said was "Follow the money".
Not only is DJ too small, how would he get her past all the checkpoints and cops outside? As far as trying to kill her then not kill her, they must want to know what she said to the cops. Then she's a goner.
Yep, not that they regard a small town police department as any real deterrent but they are trying to keep their profile as low as possible. The brother feud was completely unforeseen by Varga and his people, otherwise they'd already have finished their business and off to take over their next victim.
Nikki would be more motivated to talk after a hit attempt than before. Now they may need to know what she told them and what she knows. In any event, bad times ahead for Nikki.
Great episode...IMO.
I'm surprised they killed off Ray, I really thought it was going to go the opposite way and Emmet was going to get killed (prior to that episode).
Who was trying to kill Nikki? Looked like actor, DJ Qualls to me, but I don't know if I missed something.
The conversation between Emmet and Sy in the car was great and later, what's wrong? THE WORLD.
At the end of the episode I kept thinking, OK what's going to happen to the bus. I missed the scenes, my NEW dvr cut it off..What were included in the scenes for next week?
Mr Wrench! I thought that might be him from the music! I havnt seen season 1 since it aired so I didn't remember. What part, if any, will he have to play in this do you think?
Nikki--and what the bad guys are doing with her--is not making much sense anymore. At first, Varga's orders were to kill her and Ray, then after Ray's death she was going to be the patsy for his death. So why try first to kill her in the jail cell...and then either kill her again with the bus crash (or has she been kidnapped now instead?).
In any case, both attempts on her life since Ray's death are going to raise red flags that there's more to her story. Even the doofus pseudo-chief cop couldn't be that stupid not to finally realize something fishy is going on.
