season 2 was really bad
Season 1 was better
Both are equally fantastic in their own right in my opinion.
I used to be addicted to the hokey pokey, but I turned myself around.
Season 1 was better. But s2 was still pretty damn good
shareSeason 2 blew season 1 out of the water, and S1 was damn near perfect.
shareSeason 2 was a god damn masterpiece.
“If one devalues rationality, the world tends to fall apart.”
The last episode of season 2 was one of the biggest letdowns in tv history, I am not saying that it has to build up to a sensational action packed last episode but it was just a lot of nothing.
shareI felt that the last episode was a well thought out, satisfying conclusion for all of the main characters. I especially enjoyed Peggy's conversation with Lou, and Mike's "promotion".
Spoilers ahead---
I found the demise of most of the cocky police satisfying, as well as the logical comeuppance of the Gerhardt clan.

I think you are right.
Season 1 is great , but season 2 has nothing to tell
I never really say this because people have different opinions/ interests but oh no you're so damn wrong here or maybe you just aren't into this genre. It can't get better than this. Everything was perfect in 2nd season from story to acting. You can criticise its ending or so but the whole season? Nope.
shareSeason 2 was shallow. None of the characters were nearly as captivating as Lester or Malvo, and the storyline was all over the place (even more so than S1, which was its only real flaw). I have no idea why that UFO was there, other than for pure shock value. It felt like they were trying to one up the fish moment from S1, but it ended up just feeling tacked on.
But even ignoring the UFO, all the main characters were so lackluster that by the time the massacre happened, I didn't really care who lived or died anyway. Totally underwhelmed, as was every single person I watched it with. Don't understand the near-universal praise the second season gets over the first. Really boggles my mind.
Season 1 was the "Lester and Malvo Show", with some supporting cast.
Season 2 was more well-rounded, in my opinion. The larger circle of important characters in season 2 had more substance and I did care about them.
There was more interdependent dynamic between all of the cast, which I thought added to the development of the story.
The seasons were very different, in my opinion, but I would have been disappointed to have a two-character cat and mouse game in season two's storyline for a second time.
