Ever think Molly and Gus from S1 owe Lorne Malvo and Lester Nygaard ?

I mean it always amazes me the obsession and hatred Molly and Gus had for Lorne and Lester since if it wasn't for all of their crimes Molly and Gus never would have gotten together and had their family.

Think about it, if Lester and Lorne had not come into their lives, Molly would have become Police Chief in the future instead of that moron Bill, but since she didn't seem to have any kind of a social life, she would have just spent the rest of her life with only her work to keep her company instead of any kind of family.

Same for Gus. He would have likely spent the rest of his life raising his daughter alone providing for them as a police officer when what he really wanted to be was a mailman.

Anyone agree or see my point ?

Life is what happens to you when you are making plans for the future.

Fargo is all about "randomness". All about what happens when someone, by chance, is in the wrong place at the right time, or the right place at the wrong time creating a moment with that pesky ripple effect. Or something more calculated, like being a hitman for a syndicate.

One of the things that I appreciate about this series is the way I never know how things are going to play out. I enjoy the unraveling of the developing storyline, which takes a lot of twists, but is logical but not too expected, in my opinion.

You could make the same arguments for just about everything that is happening in the world, kind of like the idea behind "Adjustment Bureau" or "Butterfly Effect".

I didn't think Molly and Gus were "obsessed". They were in law enforcement, so they were supposed to think about how to make their town safe and catch the bad guys.

Gus wasn't so anxious to go after Malvo until the last episode, when he realized that he, after watching Malvo slither away from all of the police that were supposed to see his evil, ---Gus had to make sure Malvo didn't go after his family.

Molly just kept the hope alive that she could catch Vern's killer for the benefit of his widow. It took a long time for the parts to come together, but I never thought of her as obsessed.

And on a slightly different note---I recently had a new refrigerator delivered. I was joking to my friend that works at the store where I bought it--
"Sometimes a badly built appliance can start a whole chain reaction of murders and killing"--explaining to her how Lester's badly manufactured washer from China played a part in setting at least part of the murders into play.
I love the writing for this series.

Molly and Gus hooking up, and Lou getting a new ice fishing partner was my favorite part of season 1
