I've only seen him in BvS, so I'm not as excited for him as I was for the other castings. I'll have to check out Halt and Catch Fire and his best movies to see how good he is. No doubt there will be more casting announcements in the next couple weeks.
I started checking his filmography and it's quite impressive;
Argo, Gone Girl, 12 Years A Slave, Frank, Killing Me Softly, Non-Stop, BvS; DoJ, The Rover, Wonderland, Black Sea and Promised Land.
All films that I've seen or heard of. (And he has quite major roles in all of them, some of which I remember.)

Just thought I'd offer a correction to your list: Scoot was in Killing Them Softly, a crime movie which also featured Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini. Killing Me Softly was a romantic thriller with Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes.
Revenge is a dish best served with barbeque sauce.
