he asked lester were there any more shells for the gun?

Lester's response "no" even though he pulled out 2 out of his pocket a 2nd later.. I suppose lester answered "no" for 2 reasons.. maybe he thought billy bob was gonna kill him and the second reason was he still "sort of" wanted to kill billy bob and frame him for his wife's murder... though obviously since the cop had shown up it all kind of screwed up his plan anyway..

What I noticed in this sequence is lester had the shotgun shells and as he headed down the stairs they disappeared.. it's a little goof.. but I noticed 👅

And I'm guessing the police never found those blood spattered shotgun shells either.. I think they disappeared into a mini-black hole 

Why would it screw his plans?
He still could kill Malvo and blame him for killing his wife and the cop. ( I tackled him to the ground after he shot the cop and I took the shotgun and finished him)

As for the shells, didnt he put em back in his pocket?

I also think his plan could still work.

As for the shells, if he puts it back in his pocket, the question would have at least be raised by the police : why did you have them in your pocket ? He could probably had his way around like : Malvo killed the cop, left the useless shotgun cause it was empty, I took some shells and sneak my way to the shotgun and killed Malvo. Or maybe he did something else with the shells but we just dont see it ? I dont remember if there was a cut maybe.
