I can only assume it was his house, from an insurance settlement for her 'wrongful/accidental' death.

Any county coroner/fire dept. inspector/life insurance adjustor who would have judged that explosion at the end a "wrongful/accidental death" would have been fired for incompetence.

There would have been too many indicators of homicide left behind.

I just watched it and it was shown in the opening credits as the dream house that was part of the "Goals". So the husband got her dream house in the end.
