Serial Mom!

I loved it. Very reminiscent of the 90s film. Katherine nailed it. I wish people wouldn't give her such a hard time.

I agree! She was GREAT in this movie! That whole scene in the bathroom where she wigs out, then cries on Don's shoulder, then tells him what she'll do if he ever talks to her that way again...It was great. And, yes, people should quit worrying about her behavior on the set. MANY actors behave much worse and you don't hear them being crucified for it. People still think Michael Jackson was almost a god, and you know he was a child-molesting drug addict. Robert Downey Jr can't stay out of jail. People laugh about Charlie Sheen's antics. Paul Walker's death is called "tragic" when it was absolutely preventable. All he had to do was get out of the car. That's not tragic; it's stupid. And no one is talking about his taste in underage girls. KH's behavior is certainly no worse than any of these people.
She's a terrific actress, and it would be great if people would just judged for her work.

That scene had especially clever photography.

Notice that the two are first side-by-side at separate sinks in the large bathroom. Don wears a dark bathrobe on the left side of the room which is in very subdued lighting. Mom is in a colorful blue bathrobe, blonde hair shining, in the very-well-lit right side of the room with a gleaming white bathtub visible to the far right.

The cinematographer reversed the usual pattern of Westerns: he puts the bad cowboy (Mom) in the shining white hat, and the good cowboy (Don) in the sinister dark hat.

E pluribus unum

That is a VERY astute observation! I never even noticed it. I'm going to watch it again and keep an eye out for things like that.
The part that creeped me out the most in this one was the scene with the pinata. The way she behaved toward the woman with Crone's (sp?) was pretty bad, but the way she treated her son was horrible. Then siccing her daughter to do what the brother couldn't, and the bloodthirsty look on her face...that was CHILLING. KH was perfect for this role.
Just an aside...I LOVED her in "Life As We Know It." She and Josh Duhamel (also rumored to be difficult to work with) were great.
I wouldn't be too quick to think or say that her career's over. We'll see a lot more from her in the future.
Thank you again for pointing out the bathroom scene. I'll pay closer attention when I watch it! ?

This movie is nothing like Serial Mom. Serial Mom was played purely for laughs and contained a minimum of gore. Home Sweet Hell is much more realistic and gory.

I didn't find this movie realistic. I found it to be campy, like Serial Mom. Only problem - Serial Mom is a much better movie.

HOWEVER, I though Heigl did an awesome job! She needs to stop with the rom-coms and branch out. She certainly has the chops to do it.

I meant that the gore was much more realistic.
