As already discussed, not a thing in this film makes any sense. Like Prometheus, more dumb scientists who have no connection with science. I hope Mad magazine reviews this.
Why not go in closer to the Lighthouse to begin with? They knew that was the epicenter, right?

They messed up in the movie adaptation. They shouldn't of based this on the book and just made a stand alone film. In the book there is a clear entrance to the shimmer. You cannot just walk in from any point. This leads them to believe design over chaos as there is a clear entrance. They also left out the part where when they transition in the book the physiologist actually hypnotized the whole crew, thats why none of them remembered crossing over or the few days after. They alluded to this in the movie but if you hadn't read the book you wouldn't catch it. It was very sloppily done.

shareThe difference is this movie (Annihilation) wasn't trying to be all pretentitious like prometheus. It was just being a surrealist film.
shareYeah, it looked stupid as fuck considering that the Lighthouse is AT MOST 100 ft away from the sea (or ocean).
Clearly they could have taken the boats or ships with hundreds of men and burn that shit down real quick.
