It'll be on netflix in a couple of weeks, march 12th to be excact. I would have liked to see this one on the big screen but it's going straight to netflix in Europe, but hey I'm not complaining. Netflix is really treating us scifi fans, today Mute and then later Annihilation.
Yes this looks like it's the kind of movie that really would be a great cinema experience. It's strange that it's going straight to Netflix outside of the US.
I agree. I just listened to a review of this from a critic on television. He gave it a 4 out of 5 rating and said he wanted to see it again. I haven't been to a theater in awhile and I'm considering seeing it this week end.
Scifi and war movies are the only ones I go to the theater for and this would have gotten my ticket. It seems to be getting good reviews so it was a weird choice to not release it theatrically here. I read an interview somewhere where Alex Garland said that he was dissaponted in the netflix deal.
Yes, these days, I only go to the theater for movies that appear as visually impressive and this one seems to fit the bill. Also, it was touted by this particular critic as being " a great
sci-fi thriller " so I got the impression of an all round good movie experience.
DB, do yourself a favor and see this on the big screen. It's a Sci-Fi Masterpiece, and the best film I've seen in years! I was left in a state of awe and wonder as the credits rolled. Btw, it's rated 8.2 on IMDB, but I give it a
9.8. The only film I've ever rated higher is 2001, the only film I've ever given a 10.
That may be but I HIGHLY recommend seeing it on the big screen. It's a Sci-Fi Masterpiece which left me in a state of awe and wonder (if not shock) as the credits rolled. It's not only the best Sci-Fi film I've seen in years, it's the best FILM period!
Sounds good. I'm getting more and more excited to see it. Sadly there's no chance for me to see it on the big screen though. My friend has a pretty great home theater so I'll have to convince him to watch this with me, but he's not really into scifi films.
That's a damn shame it's not getting international theater release. I guess it didn't have enough dumb superhero bullshit it in for it to be considered marketable.
Hope you enjoy it, how ever you end up watching it.
I finally saw it too and it did not dissapoint. It was pretty great. I loved the visuals, the atmosphere and the soundtrack. I was left with some questions in the end, some of which were answered here thankfully. I'm definetely going to watch it again sometime soon. A solid 8/10
I wonder if Netflix hadn't bought it, perhaps Paramount would have given it a limited theatrical run... Seems like we missed out on a cinema experience with this deal...
I watched the movie on my pretty good system at home. It is cinematic. Solid bass and atmospherics. Lots of scenes composed for the large screen... I hope we get to see his next film in theatre instead...
