The guy who threw the dog

I wanted him to die sooooo bad. Poor Gosling </3

There's no way I'd sacrifice myself or someone I love for a dog. If you can save the dog then great, but if not then bye bye Rover.

I've never been a dog owner (always wanted one). But most of my friends that are dog owners have admitted that if it were between their dogs or someone they knew to be an *beep* they would save their dog over the person. I really don't know, I wouldn't want to let an *beep* live over my dog but how do you explain that to the persons family? "I had them, one in each hand, they were dangling from a cliff. I could only save one. I chose the dog..." That might be considered manslaughter to choose the dog in that scenerio. It's a tough one.

Well your pet is just an animal who can't rationalize an insane situation like this. They need your protection absolutely. Your friend on the other hand should have an easier time wrapping their heads around the situation and defending themselves.

Pets are like small children. They need more help in a human world because our world is complicated.

That might be considered manslaughter to choose the dog in that scenerio.

It would not unless you intentionally let go of your friend(which a lawyer would have to prove) or if you caused the situation that lead to them being in the perilous situation to begin with.

They didn't have to do either. They could have thrown in the foot and swam away. But instead Sam chose to kill an innocent animal. That said, it was perfectly within Sam's character to do it.

Agreed. I was grinning like a loon when he bought it.

i think it would have been awesome if the dog came back as a zombeaver and was the one that ended up killing him in the end. would have been hilarious and came full circle!!

reply

hah yeah i was kinda hoping for that.

My wife and I felt the same. It was kind of a kick in the balls that he got to live for so long after doing that.

My wife felt much better about that scene while watching the credits and seeing the dog kind of playing with the zombeavers.

Couldn't wait for him to bite it. Which is exactly what would've immediately happened to anyone who dared do that to one of my dogs, or any non-zombeaver animal, were I in such a situation.

Hilarious movie, though. I seriously can't believe I just watched it with my dad and younger brothers. (Our mom opted for more Match Game in another room instead...) x__x They couldn't find anything good on, so they deliberately sought out something bad...and boy, did they find it. The "angry beavers" looked like animatronics from Spirit Halloween. And oh, that dialog, and that acting (from some of them...) 😂😝 I could tell who it was gonna come down to (two of the only ones I kinda liked some of the time, as it happened.) Not that I was especially rooting for anybody--they weren't quite "Let's go hide behind the chainsaws!", but came pretty close. "Randy (dumb) teens alone in a cabin..." Is this not the start to 90% of cheap horror synopses? *lol*

A nearly literal use of the Kick The Dog trope. Everyone with a half-functioning brain should be able to recognize it as the writers telegraphing what-his-name will be toast and deservedly so. We as the audience are asked to empathize with Zoe here (in fact, this sole scene cemented her status as the Final Girl over Jen) - and everyone who is not a total psycho would do without having to be asked twice. Dogs are basically baby place-holders in the genre.

I very much appreciate the creators including the BTS with the dog - surely to placate the expected outrage over his demise. Smart move.
