Laying it on a bit thick...
That title... yeesh. We're all grateful. But I hope they change that title for the sake of business sense.

shareits a reference to what people say to them back home, "thank you for your service", presumably an allusion to how that phrase makes them feel, or the connotations concerning it
shareI agree with t-i-s. My first reaction was actually, "Man, that's a painful/sorrowful title." There's irony intended. If you simply google the phrase, "thank you for your service," you'll see many articles on why it that is often NOT the right thing to say to a veteran. It's complicated.
I hope at some point a veteran will read and chime in on this.
I like the idea of this Film, it is high time that more is done to help our young men and women cope with what they have seen and done in the service of their Country. At the moment there is the 22 for 22 awareness campaign taking place on Facebook.
shareI'm a Marine vet and I came her cuz I just read on FB that Schumer was gonna be in a film about PTSD and I was pissed...had to learn more. So far she is typecast one trick pony...but...her crass humor could be just the right medicine for us guys who tended to cope with some f*&ked up humor in the field...so I'm reserving judgement, but I'm guessing this could be a masterpiece or epic failure but not much in between.
About the title...another taboo topic, again, a tightrope between success and failure. I hope Speilberg does the film cuz we need someone to help us explain why we don't really like hearing 'thank you for your service'. No one teaches us wtf to say back...ur welcome? being thanked for doing your duty only drives a wedge for us. As soon as someone says it, I know they mean well but it means it's now 'us & them'...and most of 'us' and trying to get back to 'normal' and we end up feeling less normal. Not really the desired response for thanking someone for their service, but true nonetheless.
Anyway, that's my $.02...and there is a lot more s*$t to unpack with it, but I'll save that for my therapist!
I pray they get it right because humor is the best medicine and this issue needs help. Our guys deserve it.
As I searched I thought
I know that usually she is a one triuck pony, but Amy plays a different character, a war widow. Trust me, see the movie. BTW don't look for a blonde. She dyed her hair mousy brown.
