Did anyone else think Veronica should have started in grade 10.

No, because then Lily would have died when Veronica started grade 9 and the original premise would have made less sense since Veronica and Lily wouldn't have attended the same school for the year before she died so their friendship wouldn't be the same as it was.

I also wouldn't have wanted the show to start sooner after Lily's death. A year is a perfect amount of time for Veronica to get into the "revenge" state of her grief, and allow everything like Keith's fall from grace to take place before the show stars.

I liked the first season a lot and I'm not so sure that the show would have been the same without it. Having Veronica try to find out who killed Lilly was the best part of the show.

However, I do often think about how great the show would have been without the third season being set in college. But I'm not sure if season 3 was bad because of college or because it went from being broadcast on UPN to being picked up on the CW. A Summer season could have been interesting. Maybe Veronica and co. could have went on a vacation but Keith needed Veronica's help and so she went back to Neptune for the rest of the Summer. Then season 4 could have been the start of college. Who really knows how the show could have gone if it lasted past 3 seasons. They even filmed an episode where Veronica was an FBI agent. Granted, I think that would have been really dumb without any of the old characters like Wallace and Logan.
