Cast a different Belle

It pains me to write this more than my eyes seeing that movie. The classic Disney Princess Movie that captivated the hearts of many through the ethereal beautiful songs, to the rather odd alluring hinderance that one faces in finding true love, Beauty and the Beast will always be a beloved classic. However, the new live remake did not do the cartoon version any justice. Everything about the live make felt too rushed and too focused about having an individual such as Emma Watson be the big face of Belle. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore and have so much respect for Emma Watson. Whether she is a witch defeating dark wizards or an angst teen going through life in awkward stages alongside friends, I've always been captivated by each role she's been in. Now the casting for this movie could've been done differently. Belle should've been a different actress (sorry Emma). The live action just didn't leave me speechless. It was quite forgettable.

I agree on most of what you said, especially the CGI which was just atrocious. After what Disney did with The Jungle Book I expected so much more.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/AD4MjlFtI4k

LOVED the movie but the ONLY problem I have with it is how effing PLAIN Emma is. I mean cmon.

She's very pretty, and I like her more than Emmy Rossum, who is also pretty and who can sing. That's the only other name I've heard suggested, and she's never impressed me.

Really, the problem with this movie isn't the casting, it's that it's DULL.

She may have been too old by then, but how about Anne Hathaway?

With rich chestnut hair, bold eyebrows, and a fair skin tone, it’s easy to see the doppelganger that is Anne Hathaway in relation to Princess Belle of Beauty & The Beast. They also share intelligent character traits, and a strong, friendly and caring demeanor.

I just can't see Hathaway in the role, not even when she was younger and playing princesses. She's not right physically, I mean she's a really good-looking woman but her features are strong instead of Disney-pretty, and there's something ironic and modern about her screen personality. She just isn't a sincere village girl from the 17th century.

A lot of modern American actors are like that, they just don't fit into historical roles.

Daisy Ridley of course:

Daisy is a trained singer.

When I heard Emma was going to play her, I was so disappointed. And when I watched it, she met my expectations and she was indeed a wooden actress. She also looked too young for the role.

Lily James would be my choice.

If you’ve seen The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, there was a scene where she was wearing a yellow dress and she was Belle incarnate. That was pretty much was her audition tape...except she’s already Cinderella.

I feel you. When I first heard Emma Watson was gonna be cast as Belle, I was thrilled, because I liked her in the Harry Potter series as Hermione. I had no idea what kind of a stupid feminist she was, or that she would contribute to ruining Belle's wardrobe for this movie. (There's a reason why you never let actors design their characters' costumes. You get boring, slouchy crap like what Belle wore). That, and apparently she wasn't that good of a singer, because they had to use Autotune on her, making her sound like a singing robot.

However, Emma Watson was only one of many issues I had with this movie. The worst part was that everyone looked bored and was following the script like a bunch of high school students in a play, rather than actually behaving like it was the natural turn of events in their lives. The romance also felt fake and very empty. I could write an entire book on what was wrong with this movie, so I'll leave it there.
