There is an inference from the character LaFou towards Gaston. That is all. If Disney had not mentioned that there was a gay character in the movie, most people would probably have not noticed anything.

During the Gaston song he falls into Gaston's arms and looks longingly at him. Then Gaston gives him a funny look and Lefou asks "too much?" and Gaston says "yup".
Then in the closing scene in a large ballroom dance party, Lefou is dancing with a woman then turns around to come face to face with a man and they both smile.
That's it!
The gay references are brief and innocent. I don't understand all the fuzz about them when they were brief and not relevant to the actual plot.
