Wow the Scoot McNairy character is useless
what a coward
shareI think that's just the way many male characters are written now. Someone mentioned this movie to me yesterday, told me the set up, and from knowing Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis were a married couple that get terrorized, I could immediately (correctly it turns out) surmise that he's going to be a pathetic sad sack and she will be the resourceful effective one.
shareDisappointed to see the Scootster get dumbed down so much.
shareWere you not told there's another couple that you might relate to?
sharetrying to make women stronger is one thing but trying to make men weak so women can be stronger? that's a fucking sinister agenda.
shareNot exactly useless (he fell from the roof to set the ladder for his family) but certainly less strong, weaker than his tall wife, who is self-confident and resolute, takes initiatives, neutralizes two enemies, saves her husband and the children.
shareYeah, I just watched. I was surprised by how emasculated he was. He’s a cuck, as they reveal how his wife was sexting another man. He emotionally breaks down inside the home like a sissy man. His wife has to save him from getting impaled by the glass shard. And his wife is the one who kills the wife, sprays McAvoy with drain cleaner, and stabs McAvoy. Even the daughter is the one who injects McAvoy, and Ant actually kills him. MccNairy for very little action
They might’ve considered having Scoot get killed in this film to give him something memorable
Might as well have hidden in the wardrobe for the whole film while his girl boss wife organised the escape and kicked the shit out of everyone. peak progressive.
shareThat's a movie I'd like to see!
A family is under siege by a bunch of crazies. They have to fight for their survival. They block every entrance, organize their defense, make a strategy....and the husband locks himself up in the wardrobe behind the grandma's night gown, waiting for his wife kicks the shit out of everyone!
Come on, don't tell me it's not a funny idea!
I get him confused with C. Thomas Howell. LOL!
shareYeah it was pretty obvious what they was doing there, making the man all weak and pathetic and useless while the woman was strong and resilient and bad ass who kills all the bad guys herself.
Theres even a moment where the husband breaks down crying in the middle of the end when they're being attacked going "I'm so sorry its all my fault!" and he nearly goes into the fetal position, and of course the strong woman has to grab him and tell the stupid useless man his family needs him and even then he's still useless.
We get it Hollywood, Man=Bad, Woman=Good.
