Haha, I just rewatched that episode yesterday, and the gnome guy is so freakin' hilarious the way he delivers his lines, the whole gnome story was perfect. I'm actually a little disappointed we haven't gotten any more subplots dealing with his ridiculous "investigations".

I think the fact that he grew up there, too- people see him as the kid he was or just one of them.

I have a vague memory that he has a position other than just "officer" when he was addressed by others, but I'm blanking out so was wondering the same thing.
