I like this show but...

What do these women actually do... you know for a living??

Maggie works part time as a waitress, but I think they're leading up to her going back to finish nursing school. Emma is probably sitting on a hefty severance from when she was fired. She was making a ton of money before and now she has very few expenses.

The house they live in is Maggie's parents house, so no mortgage, and she is also probably receiving child support. Emma watches the baby while Maggie works so there's no childcare cost. Eventually they're gonna have to get jobs I'd suspect, higher paying ones, but for now I think they're okay.

Maggie works for the local sandwich shop and I'm guessing she's collecting alimony from her divorce. Emma probably has cash left over from being fired. But I think the show will work into Emma getting a job again. It doesn't make sense not to.

Child support maybe, it's pretty rare to get alimony these days.

I was very happy to see Maggie decide to go back to nursing school. Sends a great message that you're never to old to go back to school. Not that she's old, but I switched careers at 40 to go to school to be an X-ray Tech, and thought I'd be among the oldest ones in my class, but there was a good mixture of age groups which was cool, so everyone had different perspectives to bring to the discussions.

She didn't mention it this week in the lake camp episode, so I hope the story line doesn't get dropped.

Love the Sklar twins!

I came to the board SPECIFICALLY to find out. I can see Emma having a strong savings/nest egg. However, since she quit/fired, I don't suspect that she received a severance. That's typically reserved for layoffs.

As for Mags, I an glad someone explained her situation considering Bruce doesn't seem to have money.
