Why the nonsensical location? (Spoilers)

Why was there a school for the blind, deep in the middle of the woods, with no access via roads? They weren't lepers. A movie as horrible as this, couldn't have had a more horrible ending. After watching it I want to stab myself in the neck with a pair of scissors.

There was so much stupidity in this movie, it's almost immeasurable. When the sister exploded like a water balloon when she got hit by the truck, I should have known this crap would only get worse and worse. And why the hell did these things magically start talking all of a sudden. That didn't happen anywhere, but the end. They were out there for 5 years and they never talked before. Zero sense.

They did talk right from the start. Lydia (Douglas’ wife) heard them talking like her mother.

And you don’t know that the blind school isn’t on the edge of a city. Just the ‘easiest’ way to get there if you are blindfolded is by the river.

What a peculiar reaction ... are you sure you are not infected with whatever the virus was in this movie?

Some of the infected did not go crazy but lingered around to bring harm to other people. Anyway, there was not much sense to them movie, but after I watched it for while I started liking it, with the proviso that it was absolutely insane.

I hate John Malkovich, but his character was so great in this movie ... and all the weird situations there were in. There is no way I could even make it out my front door to get to my car blindfolded, and yet these guys are going all over the place.

It was crazy, but kind of fun.
