I just saw this movie and I...

do recommend.
It's obviously reminiscent to The Quiet Place...and maybe a little The Mist..and several others that may come to mind.

I'm sure they'll be some nit pickers about its originality (or lack of) but the main thing for me was that I found it entertaining. I was never bored. There are some genuinely tense scenes and others that fall into place as expected.
But it's very well acted and Sandra Bullock and the other cast does a good job..

It won't win any awards but It was a fun watch for me and that's all I ever ask for anymore. Too few movies entertain.

Yea very good movie tbh, but the ending :(, is she dreaming? dead? or rly the ending? what were the creatures???

reply

I don't think she was dreaming...or hallucinating or dead. Have all the films in the last decade hot wired us to expect this?

Some things were not answered. We knew as much as the survivors knew....

Of course with the trend of sequels that give all the answers...there could be another one coming depending on the success of this one.

Thank you. I saw this advertised on Netflix and the first thing I thought was that it must be a "Quiet Place" type of movie. Now that I've read your description, I'm going to give it a viewing.

I liked it a lot. It was really entertaining and pretty tense at times. But I feel like the last 15-20 minutes were a bit dissapointing, a little anticlimatic I think. Still a good movie. 7/10. maybe even a 7,5.

I'm glad that they never showed what the "creatures" looked like and I didn't mind that there was no explanation to them.

Movie was pointless in the end. If you don't get closure, hell kill everyone off at the very least... But no in the end she just ends up trapped in another place hiding from the unseen creatures.

reply

Not really pointless to me...it's not the end of the story and that's how real stories have to end unless everyone dies..
And complete total annihilation or all the complete nihilistic endings of so many films these days are getting a little pointless and depressing. For me anyway..

Endings are the most difficult part of any story but it doesn't discount the journey...
And I don't mind the protagonist finding a little peace...however brief.

As it is there could be another chapter as they're so fond of doing also these days..

reply

That possible future chapter is what the film stank of.. It felt like a movie designed for a sequel and I'm tired of those, tie up all the loose ends and finish it for better or worse.

reply

Well, we agree on that. I'm sick to death of sequels....and mini series that turn into series because they do well..not because they should.
Some things should be left self contained..

reply

It's a lot more like The Happening than A Quiet Place.

I would guess it shares similarities with all apocalyptic films where there are survivors trying to survive.
But these 2 share similarities that involves the basic senses.
One will kill you if you look at it and one will kill you if it hears you.

Both were able to be relatively normal when in a closed off building as in quietly making sounds and speaking softly in one example and being ale to remove their blindfolds and use their vision in another.
Both scenarios made it extremely difficult to go forging for supplies.
