I Was Expecting Something WAY Different.
This special was not what I was expecting. I was expecting something where they'd interview all these celebs and public figures that love the holiday or were part of a major horror movie or Halloween themed movie that everyone watches every year during the Halloween season (like how they got Matthew Lillard for this special). Almost like when VH1 did those I Love The 80's, 90's, and 2000's/New Millennium specials. I was expecting to hear famous people talk about Halloween as a kid or what led to them liking the holiday or what their favorite movies are to watch during the Halloween season and so on. Maybe bring up topics for them to talk about. Like if the holiday really is a devil worshiping holiday, or if poisoning candy or sticking razor blades in candy started out as a myth or it actually happened and then slowly turned into a myth over time. I figured The Boulet Brothers would be asking everyone these questions (keep in mind that I never heard of The Boulet Brothers until this special).
But this isn't what the special was. The special seemed like a REALLY bad version of Mad TV or SNL but a Halloween special with Halloween themed skits. The major problem with this special wasn't even that it's got a bunch of LGBTQ+ stuff in it. Nothing was entertaining about this. It was a waste of 45-50 minutes and a really long 45-50 minutes. I only kept watching because I was thinking that maybe things would get good in the second half or they were saving all the good stuff for later. Nope. I was pretty much "what am I watching?" during the whole 45-50 minutes and was like "never again" when it ended. Nothing about this got me excited that it's the halfway point to the Halloween season. Shoot. All the Halloween Facebook pages I like/am following do a better job at getting you excited that it's the halfway point to Halloween. And all they have to do is post a simple picture of a pumpkin/jack-o-lantern or a picture of "It's The Halfway Point To Halloween." Or popping in/turning on a Halloween/Michael Myers movie in April would be more effective than this special.
I wouldn't recommend this special. Stay away from it. Unless you want to watch it for bragging reasons.
