Ending similar to (SPOILERS)
I have only seen The Tunnel (English/French version) so I don't know if this applies to all
I felt the ending with Karl, Elise and Kieron was similar to the film 'Seven'
Of course Karl would have killed Keiron after he discovered his son (wife) was dead. Thus completing the killers plan
