French Parts

The series is just being shown in Australia. I am enjoying the shows, but finding the French parts heavy going.

I must have forgotten a lot of the French that I learned. When I used to watch 'Allo 'Allo I couldn't understand all of it.

Listen carefully I shall say this only once.
I could never understand why Allo Allo was so funny. It was stupid, silly and they repeated exactly the same jokes every, single episode. But somehow (in it's early years at least) it was hilarious.

Actually I was pretty worried because French dialogs are notoriously stiff and rarely true to life but I'm finding these pretty close to the way real people would talk. I don't know if the writers (mostly Brits) just speak French fluently or if they hired a Frenchie to translate the French dialogs but they did a good job. Much more so than in most recent French dramas, imo.

i only know a bit of french but have lived in france and watched enough french films to glean that the french parts seem to be okay. i think it'd be easy for the brits to hire a couple of writers who are billingual in french & english. london seems to be full of french speakers. when i was last there a few months ago, i heard someone speaking french at least once a day!
