How many children does Karl have?

Possible spoilers

I'm confused. Early in season 1 when Karl meets Elise he tells her he has five children from three different mothers. However we only ever see Adam and the three younger kids he has with his current wife. So who is the extra child and third wife, did I miss something??

in episode 9 of S1 Karl mentioned to Elise that there's a daughter he had with another ex-wife, and she lived with her after the divorce.
