I TOLD everybody SO, didn't I?

I said LONG ago that REIGN would get a season 4. For me now this is bittersweet because I love the show but now Bash won't be there. I DO hope they give him frequent guest appearances at least to make up for dissing him so much in Season 3.

After awful season two I have to admit I have enjoyed this season with the exception of Bash's storyline

reply

It is not Bash's fault the writers wrote out Kenna, and crowded him out with other guys coming in...so he is leaving. I am sad. The whole point of my message was to say everybody doomed REIGN without Francis, said it wouldn't last...now it has. I'm not happy about Bash leaving. It's sad for me.

I'm thrilled to hear that Reign has been renewed for a fourth season. Although it's also kind of sad knowing that Bash is leaving the show. I hope that by the end of Season 3, we see Mary leaving France to reclaim her place in Scotland.

reply

I'm glad you were right. I had my fingers crossed for a few months. I liked Bash but his character seemed out of place this season.

I'm very glad Reign was renewed for season 4 and I never thought it would end because Francis died. Mary's historical life has plenty of material to keep the show going a long time actually. I didn't want her time with Francis to end to soon as it will surely be a big change - the pageantry of French court to Scottish court, and how big a role will Catherine have if Mary leaves? But I guess we'll find out.

reply

I was with you! Reign is Mary's story, and it always had the power to continue once Francis was gone. I agree that it is a shame about Bash, but I can't blame the actor for choosing a better opportunity. He is a great character but was so sadly underused by these writers.

I loved Bash and Mary together, they had so much chemistry! Sadly, the writers didn't seem to know what to do with the character past that storyline, since all that came after was awful. I completely understand that Torrance is leaving the show, since there doesn't seem to be a good opportunity for him there.
I agree that this is supposed to be Mary's story, so there is still hope, her coming to Scotland and getting married again is a big chance on reviving the show, casting and writing a great male character and show us the life on Scottish court. But again, with these writers, this could either be a hit or a big fail.

I'm afraid that the show is too far gone to hope for a revived hit. Personally, I'm still enjoying most of what Reign is doing, but the ratings are in the basement and CW does the show no favors by yanking the scheduling around with different nights and huge hiatuses in programming. It's my guess that the show will last for it's 4th season (which may or may not get short ordered) just for the sake of CW's partnership with Netflix, and then it will be promptly cancelled.

It's not what I want, but I'm feeling pessimistic about it :(
