So how large are the armies suppose to be?

For example, Mary's mercenary "army" barely seems to be a hundred men.

The French castle garrison maybe less than 50 men by the looks of it.

The French expeditionary army was said to be just around 2,000.

WTF? Is France really that low of men, the English it seemed does have a much larger army, I forgot which episode, they mentioned that the English had deployed 30-40,000 "Peacekeepers" into Scotland.

And yet, the French King is having trouble paying 2,000 soldiers?

Even in Season 1, Prince Francis was like, YEAH! We are sending six companies to Scotland. I mean, what the *beep*, only six companies? what is that, around 720-800 men.

I like the romantic and action drama but come on, the writers really need to also read up on French Military History.
