The scenes with Mary and Bash were perfection tonight. I did think the confession from Bash was a little random considering he's been somewhat serious about two other women since his thing for Mary, but nonetheless, I was thrilled to see the show returning to a long-ignored plot line that was so important to a lot of fans. But DANG IT why now?! I'm assuming they filmed this before Torrence took another part, which means we're doomed before this even gets off the ground :(

How do you know they haven't had sex? Just because they didn't show it? Francis and Bash fought before she picked Francis, they both talked about how it was more then political. He also showed up when catherine tried to kill her in the tub. I'm pretty sure they did have sex. Season 2? When did she break his heart in season 2? It was season 1.
shareI am sure if Mary and Bash ever did it, the show will show it just as it had every major character pairings having "relations" on the series so far. What more with Mash - it is a big event. They are two stars of the show and have strong fanbase.
So I mistook season 1 with 2. What is the super big deal i.e. what is your issue and why the rude tone? What is important is that she still broke his heart.
I'm fairly certain that there was a point made that Mary didnt have sex with anyone before her and Francis were married. He floozied around but I'm pretty sure she didnt.
shareIf you have never noticed, Bash is the one true gentleman of the Valois Clan. He respected Mary significantly and he loved his brother too. He did not sleep with Mary, I'd bet every castle in France on that one. I am furious that the idiot writers dissed him the way they did and can't find stories for him with Mary in Scotland. BULLSH**. He could most certainly be her Queen's Deputy, her bodyguard, whatever it takes. But now it's too late. I just hate to see him go! 😞
shareIm not sure if it was the writers choice or Toorance's. The only reason the news broke so early was that Toorance was cast in a high profile pilot. It could've been a conversation where Toorance asked to see what the next seasons material would be, they didnt have much, and he left mutally.
shareIs there a reason you call him Toorance instead of his real name of Torrance? I think his leaving is entirely the fault of the writers. They got rid of Kenna which would've given Bash a story had they not did that. He could have struggled to rekindle his marriage; accepted the baby whether or not it was his or Renaude's; so much could have happened! And most certainly Bash could have a place with Mary! He could have been an envoy for her, going to England...so many ideas. And one more thing: they have to film in very harsh conditions in Toronto. Why there is beyond me. Only having a couple of days a week to show up isn't seemingly worth it. I don't know but I hate to see him go.
shareIt's funny because I hated Mary and Bash together in season 1. The show was so boring to me around that time. Francis and Mary was one of my favorite pairings in any show ever. But now that he's gone, I find Bash's feelings for Mary very endearing even though they are out of the blue. I want them to get together next season.

I loved them both together! First season was the best, and I was so disappointed when it didn't go anywhere. I always prefered Bash to Francis, the chemistry with Bash and Mary hasn't been overcome by any of the other men they put her with.

shareYeah, that's exactly what I meant. I know Francis is a favorite of the show's fans, but I personally prefer Bash. Even though he had the right look to be Francis, I was never convinced by Toby's performance, it always seemed forced to me.
Instead, I always felt Bash and Mary had a better connection, their chemistry comes out naturally on screen. Still, I wasn't talking only about Francis, Mary's relationships with Conde and Gideon lacked chemistry too.
Maybe it has to do with the writing, maybe the development is too harsh, I only felt a growing romance between Bash and Mary, in all the other cases it just changed from one episode to the other instead of feelings developing naturally.

Francis died a few days before Mary's 18th birthday, and she left for Scotland 9 months later. share
Yeah I know, but I just love how they have to remind the audience on how much time have always gone by, for example the characters would always say, a few days, a few weeks, months have gone by since the last event of every event.
Maybe they are trying to avoid the "stupidness" of some Game of thrones fans that don't think a lot of time passes by whenever a new event is shown.
A lot of people complain about the times Mary is acting like a child, but forgetting she is not even 16-18.
I really hope that "Reign" will be an 8 season show, covering all the semi-historical events.
Season 4 and 5 should be about her in Scotland. Her attempts to regain control, marriage alliances, murder plot etc.
Season 6 should be about her downfall in Scotland.
Season 7 should be about her being in England.
Season 8, the Conspiracy and her death.
