So much yelling....

I just started watching the show. I'm binge-watching on Netflix. When watching it this way you tend to realize how much Mary yells. She's always lecturing and yelling at someone. Sometimes with a raised voice, sometimes with just a very stern voice. Not judging...just making an observation. :-)

It's true, but I think it extends to several characters, not just Mary. Like I can easily recall from memory the sounds of many stern/yelling voices from the show because they happen so often - Mary and Catherine for sure, Narcisse (a guy who you probably haven't met yet), even Francis who is probably less of a stern talker than Mary. It's a direct result of the subject matter, though. These characters have a lot of good reasons to be stressed and frustrated, thus leading to the raised voices.

Absolutely! Agreed. It's a funny little effect of binge watching! :-)

Good observation maggiehgs.

Unfortunately, the shouting of lines is what passes for drama now-a-days. I'm a fan of the show, but if there's one thing it has lacked it's subtlety. There's really no such thing as letting a scene breath on the CW network.

'Tis a shame.
