Don't understand why people don't like the idea of a timeskip
A lot (and I mean a lot) of slashers had this; Child's Play 3, Candyman 3, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood, Omen III, etc. yet people are already complaining about this before the movie even begins shooting. Also, it's already very common with horror movies, especially slashers. I mean there's no where else to take this franchise. I mean, we already went "Jason Takes Manhattan" in the last one. I don't see Scream being set in Hell or space, anytime soon. They need a new storyline to age up Sidney's daughters and they're still too young. This is the same reason why Child's Play 3 had to age up Andy by making a timeskip of 8 years after Child's Play 2, even if the movie only came out less than a year later. It was needed to progress the storyline and not rehash the same one over and over, again.
