Carrie Coon is deaf in one ear

In this interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLB3Q22jHB4 at 27:17 minute mark Carrie mentions she is deaf in one ear.
This is very sad to learn, I had no idea. But there are much worse things in life I guess.

Now when I re-watch AND future watch I'll have to see if the other characters "favor" one ear with her.

When facing her directly it probably wouldn't be a problem. But, if there is dialogue while someone hugs her, or when she sits side-by-side with someone, are they always, say, positioned to her right?

You don't know by any chance which ear do you?

I'm deaf in one ear too (totally). Thinking about Southland, I wonder if you'd be accepted as a cop if you had only hearing in one ear although we were never told anything about this so I guess her character wasn't in any way hearing-impaired.

And yes, much as I've found it a problem in my life - I'm a music fanatic and will never be able to hear in stereo - there are worse things in life, like being totally deaf....

BTW this is about the most civilised and courteous thread I've seen recently on IMDB.

Hope it's the start of a new trend.

Yes, I know it'll never happen. Next will be a reply calling me an *beep* or dickweed or some other extract from the seemingly endless American lexicon of abuse.
