In the wake of the Orlando shooting...

...Did anyone feel like watching the Leftovers again? I'm not trying to equate the leftovers to such a horrible real life tragedy or anything.

I, as well as in sure many of you are, deeply saddened and heartbroken by Orlando's tragedy.

The way the leftovers portrays the confusion and the way people deal with tragedy may be cathartic during this time. I don't know. Maybe I don't know what I'm saying exactly.

Also, just wanted to add that we should all be praying for the victims' families.

God bless.

I've definitely been thinking about the attack, wondering if the survivors feel similar to how the characters in the Leftovers feel. I'm thinking back on when Garvey said at the end of episode 1, "We're still here."

I was supposed to travel to Orlando last weekend, and who knows, I could have easily ended up in that club. But I canceled my plans. I'm lucky enough not to know anyone who died in the tragedy, but plenty of my friends lost loved ones. It's a difficult feeling to describe, that's for sure. But yes, it reminded me alot of the leftovers.

TV Shows I've watched: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls072583934/. Any suggestions?

Wow.

Thank you for sharing that story. That's both incredible and devastating to hear. I am praying for your friends through this time.

Thanks. Its definitely an eye opening experience when the event hits so close to home. Lots of emotions you cant quite explain how you feel. But hopefully you just become stronger....

I don't mean to sound shrewd or annoying like that. But are you gay? I just think if you are that's pretty major, and a bit mind blowing at the same time.

How in the world can you equate someone killing 29 gay people IRL, with a fictitious story where 2% of the world disappears? There is no comparison!

reply

Really wasn't equating the two.

Obviously the tragedy of Orlando eclipses anything fictitious. Don't know how you couldn't see I was saying that, unless you're trolling.

I was just stating the importance of entertainment/art and how it relates to tragedy.

Great art/entertainment is often cathartic and can help us articulate or process some of life's most terrible events.

When the Orlando shooting happened, one of my family members happened to be watching the leftovers the next day. I was still deeply hurt and saddened over the shooting, and as I sat and watched the leftovers, I was watching characters who were also trying to process an event that seems like there is no good explanation for it happening in the first place.

This post was never meant to offend.
