The story in the first 4 episodes feels to me like some kind of Young Adult novel or something. Totally not resonating with me on any emotional or intellectual level.
I've read some superlatives about Season 2 and I'm interested to watch it, but do I really need to see ALL of Season 1 in order to enjoy Season 2?
I would say yes. Watch it all. It's only like 20 episodes total.

shareSeason 1 Episode 4 is IMO the worst episode of the entire show. Not that its terrible, but its by far the most meandering, with the first two episodes already having pacing issues.
I actually stopped watching after episode 4 until my friend told me to keep watching, right around the time episode 8 aired I watched it, caught up and became hooked.
Don't worry. Episode 5 heats up and Episode 6 is amazing. The last two episodes also hit incredibly hard and that momentum is carried thru season 2 and just keeps getting more mind-blowing every episode.
Ya if I remember right season one rocked just like season 2. So if you don't get it by now then now it's not for you. try dancing with the stars or something.

It sure is worth it...season 2 is much better than the first.

I'm glad you thought so. I found Season 1 strange but fine and I enjoyed it but although I watched the whole of Season 2 I did not enjoy it. I was determined to continue to see if it improved back to the standard of Season 1 but it certainly did not: it just got more and more disjointed and weird. I will not be watching Season 3.
You should continue watching. I found the initial episodes to be very boring and later hooked and ended up having an emotional ride towards end of Season1. You should continue watching to understand the incredibly awesome episode in Season 2 ( International Assassins)

shareYes yes yes :) It really gets started with S1 Episode 8. Season 2 is absolutely amazing. The funny thing is that after watching Season 2 I went back to watching season 1 and found that season much more enjoyable than the first time. I'm now watching the series for the third time and even now there a lot of hints that I had missed the first two times. An absolutely brilliant show in my opinion.

shareI don't agree. I wasn't convinced either when watching the first 6-7 episodes. After I started season 2 though it became my favorite show. And I have watched tons of series :)
@OP: The funny thing is that you will appreciate the season 1 episodes a lot more after watching season 2. There are a lot of hidden things in that season that will only become relevant after season 2. The show is a genius work of art. The music, the story, the characters, the acting, the cinematography. It's all brilliantly thought out.
Agreed, I wasn't a fan of season one except for episode 9 and snatches of the others, but kept watching out of boredom.
Try to get through season 1 as best you can even if it means multitasking while watching. Season 2 was great from the get go and well worth it.
I would not watch 6-7 hours of something I don't enjoy at all. Strikes me as weird and pointless.
