Whitney is the worst. (spoilers)

I get it, teenagers are terrible. Why does every show feel the need to drive home the fact that teenagers are the worst people to ever walk the earth. Sure, some are bad but my sister is 17 years old, beautiful, popular and does not even come close to this kind of behavior. The characterize Whitney in the most unreasonable, unoriginal archetype of a teenager to ever exist. What does that say about the writers who have nothing better to do with their teenage characters other than make them the most atrociously unlikable young adults to ever exist? And I swear to god, the majority of shows always end up having the teenager daughter character be promiscuous with older men and they end up pregnant (or losing their virginity to them or something else equally uninsurpied). I really like this show but can't stand any of the younger characters and feel slightly insulted that the writers can't come up with characters of a little more depth. The only thing Whitney brings to the show is her fling with Scotty which is completely inconsequential. Sure, it gives Noah a teeny bit more motive for killing Scotty but that alone is completely unrealistic. All I'm saying is that if Whitney's only reason to exist is to be a pain-in-the-ass teenager, she has no reason to exist at all. Give the viewer a little more credit.
