So they only have Alison's word that it's Cole's daughter?
Cecelia didn't mention a blood test or any other proof. This is probably the ammo Alison can use in court if Cole gets testy about custody later on; she's actually Scottie's daughter.

sharethat's the big question.. when Scotty said 'that's our baby' did he mean his family's baby or his and allisons? Also, kind of a contradiction was on the road when he said to Allison, 'come on, you've f'd everyone else on this island, why not me?' If it was his baby, obviously she would have f'd him.
Jon Gottlief, Helen's and Noah's attorney, took Joanie's pacifier and had a DNA test done on it. When he informed Noah about the baby not being his in episode 12/season 2 (29:46 mark), Gottlief's sail was deflated when he found out Noah already knew.
It's probably coming that Cole had a test done as well, but as you know, the timeline is always jumbled in this series.

am I missing something? the DNA test is used to rule out paternity. They would take the DNA from the pacifier and test it against Noah's DNA, either from a hairbrush or toothbrush or something. They would have to have the father's DNA to test against: Do we know if they had Cole's DNA? I don't think they made that clear
sharestacy0912, I just re-read your response. I think that you answered my question about if Cole had a test done. thanks,
shareAlso, if you watch further along in that episode during the Allison and Scotty exchange outside the Lobster Roll, he asks Allison:
"How's your kid?...Did you tell Cole yet, cuz she is a Lockhart, right?...Someone is going to tell him, Alli, and it's going to be you or me... because that's our baby."
Personally, I never could understand why people thought it could be Scotty's in the first place. A man would typically say "that's my baby", but also, why would he want or think Cole would care if that was Scotty's baby and not Noah's? It wouldn't affect Cole's life either way unless it's his.

For all the reasons you gave, Scotty wouldn't want Cole to know the truth because it would create an even bigger riff between the brothers. Not the other way around. If Scotty was the father, Allison's biggest problem would be keeping a rapist and drunk away from her kid. She would be afraid of Scotty telling Noah. She would be afraid of Scotty taking her daughter. That whole conversation --and storyline-- would've been different. There wouldn't be a focus on what Uncle Cole would think because they were divorced for a couple years at this point.
Again, it wouldn't affect his marriage to Louisa by knowing Scotty has a kid. Allison and Cole were already divorced, both of them moved on. The only way it would affect Cole's life would be if Joanie was his. That would be the only reason Allison would be afraid of Cole knowing the truth.

Even though Cole and Alison are divorced, there are still feelings there. As we saw the night when Joanie was conceived. Plus, why would she show up to his wedding and have that sweet conversation with him on the beach? They may not be gaga over each other anymore but there is a finally mutual respect and they can coexist. Taking the drunk rape out of the mix, what if Alison and Scotty had a consensual tryst? She would be worried about Noah knowing because it is not his child and she would be worried about Cole knowing that she slept with his brother. I am sure she knows the dynamic between the brothers and sleeping with your ex-husband's estranged unhinged brother is never a good thing. Having a kid with him is even worse. Plus, it just makes Alison look bad that she can't be faithful in a relationship. You are right that it wouldn't affect the Cole-Luisa marriage but Cole's relationships with Alison and Scotty and maybe his entire family would be affected greatly. Scotty could not careless about Cole/Noah/anyone else and everything to him is a game. His reveal would crush Alison's life and she knows that.
shareI think every feeling that counts still lingers between Allison and Cole. I'm sorry if you read something different, because on that at least we agree. Cole would be pissed at Allison, hate her for a few months, maybe even years. Sure, I get that.
Still doesn't explain why Allison is petrified of Cole knowing. And she is petrified. Not worried, but petrified. You just don't get petrified over what someone may think of you. You get into that state over losing something you love. If Scotty was the father, her main goal would be for Noah not to know...hell, for Scotty not to know. That conversation would've been about Scotty taking Joanie away from an unfit mother...not tell his brother on her.

No reason to apologize. We are having an excellent discussion, that is rare here. :)
I took it as Alison was scared of anyone knowing the truth. She knows it is something out of a seedy romance novel. I took her fear of Cole knowing because of that mutual respect. He had just told her on the beach that Luisa is unable to have kids and he would never be a father again. He was upset but he was at peace with it. While he is now a father, it is not under the circumstances that Cole would have liked. Scotty showed up drunk and Alison was most likely petrified that Scotty would announce the news at the wedding and ruin the night. Also, I think more will come out regarding the relationship between Luisa and Alison. Luisa was so cold to her last night. Something is amiss there. She has zero right to yell at Alison like that. Not saying being a stepmother is chopped liver, but the history between Cole and Alison is way too complicated for her to be getting involved and acting so sanctimonious. Let Cole tell Alison what he and Luisa had to do while Alison was gone.
I think it's pretty clear that the DNA test proved that Cole is the father.
