Going back and forth between the present and the past

I enjoyed the different points of view in prior seasons but now this going back and forth between the present and the past is super annoying! Case in point making us watch the exhaustive dinner scene twice. Also, the lady playing the French professor is doing a great job but unfortunately I don't care about the character and am just waiting till it gets back to the original players, Allison, Cole, Helen, Noah, the über annoying Witney, the rest of their brats and even the equally annoying doctor who seems to be
fooling around on Helen. I feel like none of this new nonsense was needed. There was plenty of the original plot and sub plots left to explore!
