Anyone catch the French chicks remarks...lol!!

Rough translation: The lady in the beret asked how large his manhood is. Juliette said he is hung like a horse. Then she asked if he was circumcised "as all Americans are..." Juliette says he is always up.

LOL, this is totally Noah's imagination of that conversation.

Ha ha! No, I speak so little French, I may as well say I speak none at all, so I didn't know that. Pretty funny.

This was Noah's POV. It was clever for them to do that because he didn't speak a word of French and had no idea what they were talking about. The conversation in french was between the three women and that's why there were no English subtitles, and had I not read the translation on another site I never would have known what they were saying.

In Juliette's POV, she was speaking English to include him not be rude and we got the English subtitles of what she was saying (and it wasn't about him being circumcised or the size of his d!ck lol)

Remember us, for we too have lived, loved and laughed

That part I got, and I understand why in Noah's POV there was far less English, and how left out one feels in such a situation, having been half of a couple who speaks one language, while the other half and his (or her) friends and family speak another.

Really all you can do, as the mono-linguist, or the one who know virtually nothing about a language beyond basic pleasantries, is to smile, and perhaps nod. While the other person, who knows both languages, would be much less aware of what's understood and what isn't in their native tongue.

Well that explains why they wasted precious time on the POV's of that scene. Not really worth it in my opinion; not that many people will ever know what was said in the translation.

My wife and I saw this on HBO Nordic here in Sweden. She needs the Swedish subs, and the translation (from Noah's POV) of the conversation could be seen, only the translation was in English, which would suggest that the Nordic countries all get the english subs for the French dialogue.

I did: "il est monté comme un taureau", I laughed and thought the whole conversation was ridiculous :)

When people talk in a foreign language around me, i assume they are talking trash about me or discussing the size of my manhood as well.

Does that happen often?
