I love this board, it's been great since The Affair began, and I have always loved coming onto imdb to check on theories, opinions and thoughts about movies I had just seen and confront my opinions with other people's.
If they think they'll have the same amount of active users on facebook or twitter they really are stupid.
YES!
It greatly enhances my movie and TV viewing to know I could go check the boards and see if I'd missed some detail and was confused, or just to talk over what I'd seen, or even if I didn't post, reading others' opinions. I
loved the exchanges, and with many shows (especially this one), one of the best parts was coming here after an episode to read what everyone else thought.
There is
no way people are going to start following them on Twitter or Facebook and having real discussions. What they don't realize, and perhaps don't even care about, is a lot of users do come here for the message boards. I come virtually every day. Without the message boards, why come here? To look up the occasional movie title and cast list? There are other sites where you can do that.
I think they're going to lose a lot of traffic, and have generated a lot of ill will by this move.
