An interesting movie about a man under tremendous pressure

Tom Hardy’s character is in the situation he’s in of his own doing.

But there is a certain level of respect regarding how stoically he’s handling the situation.

Here’s a man whose entire life will be completely upended come morning. He’s got pressures from all sides; his workmate panicking about the biggest concrete pour in history and Ivan who’s the supervisor not being there, his sons eagerly waiting for him to come home and watch the football game…their excitement turning to sadness as they witness their mom having a meltdown over Ivan’s affair, and his one night stand in the hospital having his baby with all her emotional distress and baggage.

And in all this is calm Ivan. This is a man with a lot of family issues as we can see from his imaginary conversations with his dead father who abandoned Ivan.

Yet Ivan maintains his composure for the most part. He doesn’t panic and accepts the world his actions have created.
