So how is Jasper going to die this season

I actually really liked Jasper in season 1 and 2 but things went downhill in 3. Since Jasper has been spared twice already (once with the spear in the pilot and again in the season 3 finale.) So I'm positive that Jasper is fated to die in season 4 and I'm wondering how it will happen. I do hope he redeems himself and goes out like a hero. Maybe saving Monty in the process.

If he does die on the show, I don't think it'll be til the end of S4, or S5 if we get that. They probably wouldn't save him just to kill him needlessly next season - they had the perfect, tragic end to his arc and they avoided it. Now it seems weird to kill him anytime soon (especially since Jason told everyone the alternate ending was Jasper's suicide. They probs wouldn't confirm that if they were planning on killing him whenever they get the chance)

The theme of next season seems to be "hope", which is another reason why I think Jasper will recover. Showing him happy with his friends in the finale was a good way to transition into that.

I was also getting tired of Jasper's character in S3 but I'm hoping he does get better and he makes up with Monty and Clarke. I miss their friendships! I like your idea of having him die trying to save Monty - they could make it into a parallel of the moment Monty saved Jasper by following him into the woods to blow up the bridge. The show is so good with parallels, I love them.

According to JRoth the theme of next season isn't Hope, it's whether they deserve to live or not. So it's going to be another season of PTSD crap.

reply

Well that shouldn't bother you Mal because you've repeatedly said you're not going to watch it.

reply

Agreed lol though Clarke is probably over due.

reply

I think debating whether they deserve to live is definitely a major character development point next season, but one of the main themes I got from the teaser-trailer thing was the resilience of mankind and hope of humanity. I could be wrong, but the trailer did seem to focus a lot on hope.

Jasper doesn't have to redeem himself (honestly, none of the characters are ever going to be able to redeem themselves. They just have to find a way to live with themselves, or they will die). THE 100, a post-apocalyptic show, is not a show about redemption, it's about people having to become monsters to survive, basically. Jasper's s3 storyline was about him dealing with the fallout of Mt.Weather and his PTSD and hopefully he will heal enough, because if he doesn't, he will probably die. The weaker get taken first, the stronger survive longer.

It's the same thing with TWD, another fave post-apocalyptic show. They had to become monsters to survive and the question is, is the real threat/monsters (other) people, or the walkers?

There is no honor in taking life. There is only service in delivering death.

It wouldn't surprise me if his death happens off screen and they just mention him casually as one of the people they lost during the first 6 months on earth.
It would fit in perfectly with the writing on this show.

Pullover! No,it's a cardigan! But thanks for noticing!

It would surprise me a lot if that happened! He's one of the major characters. Season 4 will pick up exactly where season 3 ended so he can't suddenly have died in the meantime - although of course he was originally supposed to have done.

reply

Agreed, i don't think they'd ever do that. Even relatively minor characters like Anya had a death on screen. The show uses death as a shock factor a lot so I really can't see them losing that opportunity for a boring off-screen death.

reply

Jasper has been a main character since the beginning and been involved in a lot of stuff so I honestly doubt he will die off screen. Thinking about it now I doubt they will kill him off so soon in season 4 since he was suppose to die. I just hope he can come to terms with himself and hopefully move on.

I want his relationship with Monty and Clarke to be fixed. I also really like his relationship with Raven (not romantically that is) and want it to be explored.

Yeah I really want all of his relationships to be fixed too! i just miss all the delinquents being together you know? Even Jasper and Bellamy used to have a pretty close friendship. I miss them all being in the same place together.

reply

He was definitely a major character in the last two seasons, and I don't really think they would kill him off like that. I'm just so ambivalent about The 100, I hate it and love it at the same time! Watching it is so frustrating and at times I hate the direction they take some of the characters and storylines, but at the same time I can't stop watching!

Well, having been speared twice already, I'm quite sure his death has to come in as meaningful as it can get because otherwise spearing him twice would be pointless.
