These locations are killing me

The show is surprisingly not as bad as I expected, specially when it gets later into season 2. Because I didn't expect anyhing more than a stupid kids' play house show. But either way, I just can't stand the locations.... Many of the places look so fake, and reused over and over for complete different set ups. Especially "the desert", it just looks like they shot it in a dirt pit, and because the pit is so small, they have to shoot every scene(days of them walking) in the exact same spot..... All those countries you guys went to shoot this show, you can't even find anything that looks slightly like a desert? And the bombing of the village, two seconds ago you told the audiences that the rocket would leave a hole in the ground that you can't see across, and then turns out it looks like the village just had an earthquake, not even a big one....

Of course there are so many more things in this show that don't make sense or contradict itself. But some of them are easy to forgive if the story is good enough. But these locations just completely threw me out of the story.

What "countries" they "went to shoot this show" are you talking about? Almost all places you can see are sets, created for the show, including the desert, as far as I know.

Under "Location", they listed a few countries they went to.

I'm sure that's a mistake. As far as I know they've never filmed anywhere other than in and around Vancouver.

Just had a look on this website and under 'filming locations' it shows three places, all of which are in the Vancouver area.

No, it's filmed in Vancouver and the surrounding area: Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Squamish. Great stuff alongside the Sea to Sky Highway, stuff up at Lynn Creek and Seymour Lake. A few things as far as Langley and Mission.

We just don't have a desert near; there's one four hours away-ish, but it doesn't look like a typical desert (Osoyoos).

I don't understand your complaint about the desert. It's a desert, it's not supposed to look varied and different. Name one show or movie that had a desert that kept changing how it looked? Everywhere else is just set design. This show isn't a big budget show like Game of Thrones and it's storytelling doesn't require a lot of different locations or scenery. Of course, that was one of my issues with S3, I was really hoping they would open up the world and explore it more.
