I might be the only one who predicted Beyond to do better than STID's $57 mil gross in China, and now it has surpassed that in 14 days with $58.5 mil. Almost everyone else mocked me, saying Beyond will do way less than STID because Beyond has grossed less in the US, UK, etc. than its predecessors.......You bunch of ignoramuses

Wow, Trek made $9 mil on Friday, with people thinking maybe $27 mil weekend, but it has such good word of mouth, the weekend tally ended up over $31 mil! This is a great sign that Chinese moviegoers like it, and should make more than $105 mil!!

With China's help, $336 million worldwide!
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id=startrek2016.htm

Only 50m less than the 2009 movie, even if most came from overseas. And there's even Japan to add a few more million. Even with the high budget and domestic underperformance (Paramount misfired with the release this time), it's hard to call Beyond a flop.

reply

It's lost money, so sadly it's pretty easy to call it a flop. If they hadn't gone so much overbudget with the last minute rewrites and reshoots it would have broken even, but as it stands it's still a box-office miss - just not a complete fiasco like Nemesis.

It's lost money

Really, I didn't know Insult Dogs can be accountants. Why don't Trev-iump the Insult Dog show his Certified Public Accountant license to everyone about how he's Paramount's accountant....oh, he doesn't have one, because all dogs do are ....eat , bark (insult), and ....poop, that's his whole life.....!

Oh, wait, that's $63.9m in China after 22 days after the second worst weekend of the year in China. Must have dropped a decimal point there. What's your excuse for the film still being nowhere near the $75m you insisted it would make in its first three days and has no chance of getting anywhere near $70m by the end of its run? Oh wait - you don't have one. You'll just churn out more kindergarten talk to hide the fact you just keep on getting it wrong and losing bigger with each failed prediction.

Still, that's only $86.1m to go before it reaches that $150m you insisted it couldn't fail to make in China.

Wow sad delusional Persecuted is still here trying to pretend Star Trek Beyond is a hit in China. 

The same guy who said it was going to make $75 million opening weekend.

Same guy who said it was going to make $150 million.

Same guy who said it was going to perform like Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.

Same guy who said it could even get up to $300 million there. 

A movie that made less than $2 million in its fourth weekend in China and will make $65 million total. It couldn't even reach this dumb Chinese opening weekend prediction after four weekends. 

Persecuted is sadder than a Trump debate. Keep telling himself how 'great' everything is when everyone else can see he's talking out of his ass.

reply

haha , warthogs and insult dogs can't do arithmetic.....

has no chance of getting anywhere near $70m by the end of its run

Beyond is now at $65.6 mil in China, meaning it'll finish around $68 mil there, so rounding up, it's gross is around $70 mil, but according to Tiger (FC) and insult dog (Trev-iump) and warthog (Pumba) math, I guess math in the wild animal kingdom is rounding down to ....um $50 million....to fit your hateful agenda, since tiger probably works for Disney, Pumba probably is Alice Eve, and Trev, hmm, Mr. Orci?? And again, I heard you the first time about the so called $150 mil prediction by FORBES, and my $75m opening weekend forecast, you don't have to repeat it 20 times now....we are not all senile oldtimers like TVholic, who was an IMDB before the turn of the century, at the time internet was invented, wow!

reply

Dumb chinese retard.

You predicted it was going to do $150 million...accept now its only at $64 million and will be out of China in a few days. Talk about someone who can't do simple arithmetic. 

Forbes didn't make that prediction retard, everyone told your dumbass that. ALL Forbes said was with China it will make over $300 million. Forbes was right, it did exactly what they said it would do. It never mentioned what it would make in China little boy. Read it again...or ask one of your English teachers to explain it to you better. You are the dumb Chinese who couldn't follow what the article was saying. Everyone else could. 

reply

Though he may find it hard to find someone who'll sell him one when he insists that the wrong money actually is the right money if they'd just round it up.

so rounding up, it's gross is around $70 mil

Or, to put it another way, lying to pretend it made more than it did. Just like he lied when he rounded down the budget to $135m or so (rather than the actual $185m) by guessing that the Chinese investors didn't want their money back (and guessing how much money they invested) and thinking of a number and trebling it for tax rebates. No wonder he hasn't passed his basic math exam. But think of all the fun he'll have when he leaves home trying to convince the landlord who wants to evict him that the 10,000RMB he offers him for the overdue rent is actually exactly the same as the 12,500RMB he owes and not 2500RMB short because all he has to do is round it up. Still, at least he doesn't have to wait for old age for his basic mental faculties to go walkabout.

And thanks to the latest of his predictions, we know the film won't close out in China at $68m either. 

And adjusted for inflation it's $392,682,173.96. Pretty underwhelming.

This was a fun thread to read though. The OP was on drugs this movie was going to be a huge success in China. If they ever make another I doubt it will even be shown in China because no one cares about Star Trek there.
