That kid was a pretentious little sh*t!

Why *beep* up the lives of so many people just so you could go to your happy little 'light bright' world?
Stupid.

If you're going to use the word pretentious make sure you know what it means. Knuckle dragger.

— adjective: 'characterized by assumption of dignity or importance, especially when exaggerated or undeserved.'

Straight from Dictionary.com. I believe I used the word correctly.

Your definition shows that you used it incorrectly, based on what followed. Do you really think a boy of his age can act in a pretentious manner. If you had to look up the word in the dictionary and then copy its meaning word for word, that shows you didn't understand it in the first place.

He's not even a normal human boy, idiot! And the person had to post the definition just to prove his argument again your stupid claim.

The 'assumption' is well earned. Being an alien is pretty damn important, hence why he had so many people after him!

Uhh...he didn't even know why they were going where they were going until after he had his sunrise epiphany.

He certainly had no idea what the consequences would be for his folks - he's eight.

And whatever form of coercion the kid was using, it seemed more like a self-preservation instinct. I wasn't getting a vibe of self-importance at all.

reply

So what word should he be using if not pretentious?

reply

Precocious. The boy is precocious, not pretentious.

reply

This.

He was an alternative being.
I thought he played his role extremely well. I enjoyed it, shame you're too thick to appreciate something different to blatant violence and ridiculousness.

It's like every fan of this film is the same boring go-watch-Transformers moron, they'll even cite their superiority of film appreciation when the thread isn't about that.

Wow, this movie was brilliant.

Yikes, it's surprising how angry people are with the original post!

It was pretty sad that it appeared that the people who helped the kid "go home" were pretty much screwed at the end though.
