extremely disappointed. zero tension. not exactly sure what the storyline was. confused about why it was set in the future.

I can understand this reaction, I was also somewhat disappointed though not for the same reason. They had a good concept, I like the future they established hell even the characters had promise but it felt like plot points were dropped for no real reason. Eli had no point to him and I don't get why we wasted scenes exploring that character. The sisters started off intriguing, but after what happens with that store guy their development gets benched in favour of beautiful violins and scenic shots. Overall great atmosphere, promising characters but the story itself just sits by the wayside once they leave town.

I personally thought the sisters had greatly evolved till the end of the movie. Nell had greatly blended into the role of her father as the supporter and protecter of the family. For Eva, the arc of her was trying to learn to leave the comfort of house and embrace the outside world. The one criticism I do have is that I didn't feel like this needed to be set in the future. Aside from the video screens, there was nothing that felt futuristic and I feel this type of blackout event could happen today.

On another, what was the song played in the opening credits? I can't find the soundtrack anywhere on Google.

GODZILLA_Alpha_Predator,

On another, what was the song played in the opening credits? I can't find the soundtrack anywhere on Google.
The song is called "Wild Is The Wind," sung by the fabulous Cat Power (Chan Marshall):

It was first released in 2000 on her album "The Covers Record." However, you can find even older versions of this cover by her; my favourite being this acoustic one:

Originally, this song was recorded by Johnny Mathis for the movie Wild Is the Wind (1957), even nominated for an Academy Award:

I agree with richardlcourchene-98655 when he says "extremely disappointed."

There was nothing good in this movie, just boredom and shock in the horrible rape scene. The whole premise was ridiculous and not believable nor imaginable. They might as well have thrown in a few aliens.

I went to see Ellen Page from "Juno" and Evan Rachel Wood from "Across the Universe" in a new movie who are 2 of my favorite actresses. The movie was beneath both of them.

Unfortunately, this was not the genre of movie I wanted to see them in. I'd love to see Ellen Page in another comedy, and Evan Rachel Wood in a musical or love story.

Thank you richardlcourchene-98655 for your well thought statement "extremely disappointed. zero tension. not exactly sure what the storyline was. confused about why it was set in the future."

I hope Ellen and Evan are reading this!

Was there a lesbian incest scene? Nudity?

the tumblr url the-happiness-spreader has screenshots of one of her topless scenes in the movie

There was incest in the book, but not in the movie. There was some nudity.

I was also confused about why it was set in the future. The movie was okay, but the book was a million times better (and was set in present day, which at the time, was 1996).
